About Me
Hi, I’m Avagail, a helper, a storyteller, an eternal student of life, and a firm believer that everything happens for a reason, even if the reason doesn’t always make sense until much, much later.
My journey hasn’t been traditional, but honestly? I wouldn’t trade it for the world.
Where many people my age were figuring out adulthood one late night at a time, I was figuring it out with a newborn in my arms… and a suspicious amount of baby spit-up on my shirt at all times.
Motherhood
Motherhood: My First, and Greatest Teacher
I had my daughter young, and then soon after, my son. These two have shaped me more deeply than any book, course, or career milestone ever could. They are now pretty much their own humans and adults themselves, but being their mom taught me:
-
Resilience, because kids don’t care if you’re tired, overwhelmed, or doubting everything; they just need you.
-
Discipline, the kind that comes from juggling bottles, budgets, dreams, career, school, and diapers all at once.
-
Confidence, because if I can raise humans, I can do literally anything!
-
Patience, even when tiny humans melt down over the wrong colour cup.
-
Joy, the loud, messy, overflowing kind that sneaks up on you in the middle of chaos.
-
Presence, because kids don’t need perfection; they need you right there, heart open, socks unmatched, and all.
I grew up fast, but I also grew strong, focused, and rooted in purpose.
Finding Love
Finding Love, Purpose, and a Whole New Kind of Family
Somewhere in the whirlwind of working hard, building a career, and raising two beautiful humans, life surprised me again, this time in the best way.
I met Michael: the love of my life, my anchor, my cheerleader, and the person who reminds me how beautiful it feels to truly live. (Thank you, my LOVE!)
With him came another blessing: my resilient step-daughter.
Becoming a blended family wasn’t just another chapter; it was a whole new book.
My step-daughter, who is a PWD (person with a disability), has taught me lessons in patience, compassion, acceptance, and the true meaning of self-love. Her strength, her light, her way of seeing the world, changed me. It softened me where I needed softening and strengthened me where I needed courage.
Together, the five of us created a home filled with laughter, learning, second chances, and pure unconditional love.
This is the life I once only dreamed of, and now, I get to live it!
My Work
My Work: Helping People, Heart First
Professionally, I’ve always been drawn to paths where I can help others.
Today, my career in the world of insurance lets me do exactly that.
Insurance might seem intimidating (or downright confusing) from the outside, but I see it as a powerful tool:
a way to protect families, give people peace of mind, and empower them to make informed decisions about their future. I love educating clients & advisors, simplifying the complex, and being someone they can trust.
I’m also deeply involved in charitable work, especially the fight against cancer, because, let’s be real, #FUCKCancer.
Giving back fills my soul. Knowing I’m contributing to something bigger than myself keeps me grounded and purposeful. I will forever feel drawn to fighting this daunting fight with Cancer and will do everything in my power to build a community to find a cure! We are on the cusp…I can feel it!
And through my involvement in Advocis and my industry community, I get to help shape a space where professionals support one another, grow together, and show up with heart.
Community is everything, and I believe deeply in creating one where people feel seen, valued, and inspired.
What I Believe
What I Believe
I believe in doing the right thing, even when no one is watching.
I believe people thrive when given the right tools.
I believe teamwork is magic.
I believe leadership is about empathy, courage, and listening.
I believe that life’s toughest lessons often become our greatest strengths.
I believe that joy is a choice we make every day.
And I believe that when you lift others up, you rise, too.
Where I Am Now
Where I Am Now
Today, I feel like I’m standing on top of the world, not because my life is perfect, but because it’s meaningful.
It’s messy, beautiful, challenging, hilarious, and full of growth.
but…It’s mine!
And my greatest hope is that the work I do, in my career, in my community, in my family, helps others feel even a small piece of that same joy, empowerment, and connection.
If you’re here because our paths might cross, whether in business, charity, community, or simply a shared desire to make the world a little better, I’d love to connect.
Let’s build something inspiring together.
